Obstetrics & Gynecology is a complex and dynamic specialty - constantly evolving in response to patient needs, treatment modalities, and socio-political influences - and its practitioners are fiercely loyal to the concept of Women's Healthcare. During this very physical and emotionally demanding rotation, we hope to provide you with a foundation of both knowledge and skills in order to better appreciate the healthcare needs of women. The Obstetrics & Gynecology rotation is a unique educational experience, which entails close interaction with house staff and faculty, and a "hands-on" approach to learning by doing.

A physician specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology is often a woman's primary care provider, and with this in mind, students are encouraged to learn not only Obstetrics & Gynecology, but anything involved in women's healthcare in general.

For more information regarding the clerkship, contact Kris Powell via e-mail or by phone at
948-7438. We hope you enjoy the rotation.

We welcome two new ABOG-accredited fellowship programs in our department:  Gynecologic Oncology (Director: Giuseppe Del Priore, MD) and Maternal-Fetal Medicine (Director: Men-Jean Lee, MD).  Our other fellowships include Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Director: Douglass Hale, MD) and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (Director: Jeffrey M. Rothenberg, MD).  We are proud to have a growing number of opportunities for residents who wish to pursue subspecialty training and bring needed care to our community and region.
