Negotiating the Divide: The Unexplained Trend of Men Earning More than Women

~ Tuesday, April 8 at Fairbanks Hall, Room 1110 on the IUPUI Campus ~

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and understanding of Equal Pay Day and the wage gap that exists between men and women training and working as physicians, scientists, and faculty. This networking event brings residents, students, scientists, and fellows from throughout the Indianapolis area together with industry professionals and established physicians and faculty to discuss pay discrepancies, negotiation skills, and to encourage female leadership in medicine and science.

This year’s keynote speaker is Robin Ledyard, M.D., physician executive, coding and documentation, and former president of Community Hospital East, a comprehensive acute care facility with 250-staffed beds on the City’s east side. She has been with Community Health Network since 1995, and successfully served in a variety of roles including physician advisor for case management, director of the care management council, and member of the Community East facility team. In addition, she provides medical direction for the network’s community benefit program.

Sharing a business perspective, Lori A. Ball, MBA will lead a panel discussion with business colleagues. Ms. Ball plays a strategic role in the overall management and growth of BioStorage Technologies, Inc., a comprehensive sample management solutions company for the bioscience industry.  Through her leadership as Chief Operating Officer she has enabled the company to achieve year-over-year double-digit revenue growth. Her business savvy, leadership experience, and negotiating skills will inspire you and provide unique insight into marketing yourself and your leadership skills.
